Analyst faults Obi, Kwankwaso over defections, backs APC move in Kwara

A public affairs analyst, Comrade Aleshinloye Olayiwola Ridwan, has criticised former presidential candidates Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso over their recent political movements, describing their actions as lacking strategic direction.

He stated this today during SBS FM Newspaper review, monitored by reporter Uthman Salaudeen.

Aleshinloye argued that frequent defections from one political platform to another reflect an inability to manage internal party crises, raising concerns about their readiness for national leadership.

He said leaders aspiring to govern Nigeria must demonstrate the capacity to handle both internal and external challenges.

“They should have pursued reconciliation within their parties rather than opting to leave. The inability to manage internal disputes raises questions about their preparedness for national responsibilities,” he said.

The analyst also questioned whether such political decisions were driven by national interest or personal ambition, urging greater commitment to party cohesion and democratic processes.

In a related development, Aleshinloye welcomed the endorsement of Dr. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa by some Kwara APC elders as a governorship aspirant, describing him as experienced and capable.

He noted that Bolarinwa’s political career spans over two decades, including his tenure as Kwara APC chairman and former chairman of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission in the state.

According to him, the aspirant possesses the competence, credibility, and leadership qualities required to manage the affairs of the state.

He, however, maintained that his position was not an endorsement but an assessment based on experience, urging Kwarans to make informed choices.

Aleshinloye also criticised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s recent engagement with stakeholders in the United States over Nigeria’s insecurity, describing it as counterproductive.

He argued that addressing national challenges should be handled domestically, warning that taking such issues to the international stage could portray the country in a negative light.

The analyst urged the Federal Government to adopt a balanced approach in tackling insecurity and poverty, combining both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies to achieve lasting solutions.
