Public affairs analysts have called on the Federal Government to take decisive action over the alleged coup plot, warning that failure to ensure stability could further deepen insecurity and discourage investment.
Barrister Abdulhameed Oniwiridi and Comrade Yunusa Alikinla said any individual found guilty of involvement in a coup attempt must be punished to serve as a deterrent.
The analysts made the call during SBS FM newspaper review program today, monitored by reporter Uthman Salaudeen.
In a related development, the analysts commended the Federal Government over recent cabinet changes, particularly in the finance and housing sectors.
While Alikinla described the appointment of Taiwo Oyedele in the finance sector as a step in the right direction, Oniwiridi noted that restructuring key sectors, especially finance, is necessary amid rising inflation and economic pressures affecting citizens.
He added that Oyedele’s experience, including his role in leading the Federal Government’s tax reform committee, positions him as capable of driving needed reforms in the sector.
