Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has endorsed his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, for the 2027 governorship election, signalling early political alignment within the state ahead of the next electoral cycle.
The endorsement was announced on Monday at Lagos House, Marina, amid increasing consultations among key stakeholders.
Hamzat’s potential bid has recently gathered momentum, with several political and community leaders across Lagos State expressing support during a series of consultations.
Among those who have reportedly backed his aspiration are the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa; the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Senator representing Lagos East, Tokunbo Abiru; and former Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, among others.
