The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed that the Placement Examination, popularly known as the Common Entrance Examination, remains free for all eligible pupils in public schools across the state.
The government also warned public primary and junior secondary schools against collecting any unauthorised fees from parents or guardians.
The directive was issued by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Lawal Olohungbebe, in Ilorin and was conveyed in a statement on Tuesday by the ministry’s Press Secretary, Peter Amogbonjaye.
Olohungbebe stated that the examination is fully funded by the state government, stressing that no charges have been approved for participating pupils.
He directed principals and headteachers to strictly comply with the government’s policy by ensuring that no unauthorised payments are demanded from parents or guardians under any guise.
According to the commissioner, the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq remains committed to transparency, accountability and equitable access to quality education.
He warned that any school found violating the directive would face appropriate sanctions in line with established regulations.
Olohungbebe also urged school administrators to uphold the highest standards of integrity and ensure that the examination process remains credible, fair and free from malpractice.
He encouraged parents and guardians to report any demand for illegal payments through the Ministry of Education’s C2C helpline, assuring them that all genuine complaints would be promptly investigated.
