Kwara to observe monthly sanitation exercise on Saturday

By Favour Raphael

The Kwara State Government has announced that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for June will hold on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. across the state.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, through the ministry’s Press Secretary, Shakirat Muritala.

The government said there will be restriction of vehicular and human movement during the three-hour exercise and urged residents to participate fully in cleaning their surroundings.

According to the statement, waste management trucks will be deployed to collect refuse for disposal at government-approved dumpsites.

The government also warned that security agencies and environmental officers would enforce compliance, with offenders to be arraigned before mobile courts for prosecution.

Residents were cautioned against dumping refuse on roadsides, pedestrian walkways, drainages, canals and other unauthorised locations, noting that such acts violate the state’s environmental laws.

The state government further encouraged residents to clear overgrown grasses, bushes and blocked drainages around their homes and business premises to promote a clean, healthy and safe environment.
