The Presidency has clarified that former Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and former Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, voluntarily resigned from office and were not removed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, it was explained that Edun stepped down on health grounds, submitting his resignation on his 70th birthday.
The statement noted that Edun had expressed gratitude to the President, describing his service as a privilege and praising the administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.” He also reportedly met Tinubu at the Presidential Villa before leaving office.
Similarly, Dangiwa was said to have resigned and thanked the President for the opportunity to serve in the Federal Executive Council.
The Presidency said Tinubu appreciated both former ministers for their contributions to ongoing economic and housing reforms.
It added that the President has directed the new Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, to deepen reforms and strengthen fiscal discipline, while the nomination of a new Housing Minister is expected to be forwarded to the Senate.
