Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have retained the UEFA Champions League title after defeating Arsenal 4–3 on penalties following a 1–1 draw in regulation and extra time at the Puskás Arena on Saturday.
Arsenal took an early lead through Kai Havertz in the sixth minute, but PSG fought back in the second half, with Ousmane Dembélé equalising from the penalty spot in the 65th minute.
PSG were awarded a penalty in the 62nd minute after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was fouled by Cristhian Mosquera inside the box. Dembélé converted three minutes later, sending goalkeeper David Raya the wrong way to restore parity.
Kvaratskhelia later came close to giving PSG the lead in the 78th minute, cutting in from his own half before his effort struck the post via a deflection from Myles Lewis-Skelly.
PSG continued to press for a winner, with Désiré Doué and Vitinha both going close late in the second half, while Bradley Barcola missed a clear chance in stoppage time, firing into the side netting.
With neither side able to find a winner in extra time, the final was decided on penalties.
In the shootout, PSG converted through Gonçalo Ramos, Désiré Doué, Achraf Hakimi, and Lucas Beraldo. Nuno Mendes had his effort saved by David Raya.
For Arsenal, Viktor Gyökeres, Declan Rice and Gabriel Martinelli scored, while Eberechi Eze missed and Gabriel later struck his decisive penalty over the bar to hand PSG victory.
PSG held their nerve to win 4–3 on penalties and secure back-to-back UEFA Champions League titles.
