President Bola Tinubu has approved the immediate dissolution of the Presidential Implementation Committee on the Alienation of Federal Government Properties, transferring its responsibilities to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday.
According to the statement, all matters previously handled by the committee will now be coordinated by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation. The President also directed that the dissolution takes effect retrospectively from November 5, 2025.
The Presidency further directed the former Secretary of the committee, B. S. Dutsin-Ma, to immediately cease acting on behalf of the dissolved committee or the Federal Government on matters relating to the sale or management of federal properties.
The Presidential Implementation Committee was established in 2000 during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo to oversee the privatisation, sale and lease of Federal Government landed assets under the monetisation policy.
According to the Presidency, the committee had operated beyond its original mandate, resulting in multiple legal disputes across the country. It stated that the continued existence of the committee was no longer necessary, prompting the decision to dissolve it.
