Tinubu wins APC presidential primary with 10.9 million votes

President Bola Tinubu has emerged as the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate for the 2027 general election after securing 10,999,967 votes in the party’s nationwide primary election.

The result, announced during the national collation exercise at the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, showed Tinubu defeating fellow aspirant Stanley Osifo, who polled 16,504 votes.

The APC presidential primary election was conducted across 8,809 wards nationwide.

Governors from 31 states, alongside party leaders serving as state coordinators and collation officers, presented results from their respective states to the Presidential Primary Election Committee chaired by former Senate President Pius Anyim.

Tinubu recorded strong results across the South-West, polling 814,988 votes in Lagos, 322,485 in Ogun, 181,996 in Ondo, 142,754 in Oyo, 100,888 in Osun and 85,340 votes in Ekiti.

Osifo recorded lower figures in the zone, including 1,186 votes in Lagos and 929 in Oyo.

In the North-West, Tinubu secured 618,914 votes in Kaduna, 500,852 in Kano, 467,003 in Katsina, 450,517 in Gombe, 292,972 in Kebbi, 301,000 in Sokoto and 321,579 in Zamfara.

The President also maintained a wide margin in the North-Central region, polling 374,787 votes in Benue, 310,990 in Kwara, 285,436 in Nasarawa, 241,720 in Plateau, 197,370 in Kogi, 175,487 in Niger and 36,103 votes in the Federal Capital Territory.

In the South-East, Tinubu secured 582,960 votes in Imo, 383,382 in Enugu, 207,579 in Ebonyi, 161,005 in Abia and 43,034 in Anambra.

The South-South region also delivered substantial votes, with Tinubu polling 407,646 votes in Delta, 389,197 in Akwa Ibom, 280,082 in Rivers and 227,192 in Bayelsa.

At the end of collation, Tinubu secured 10,999,967 votes nationwide to emerge as the APC presidential candidate for the 2027 election, while Osifo finished with 16,504 votes.
