Social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has announced a temporary withdrawal from all social media platforms.
In a video shared on his Instagram page, he said the decision was prompted by claims that his online content has been distracting Nigerian youths from focusing on holding the government accountable.
VDM said he would step back completely from posting on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube to allow others take the lead in civic engagement and activism during the period.
He challenged other influencers, celebrities, and activists to fill the space he is leaving, saying they should use the opportunity to mobilise and speak up.
He added that his withdrawal was deliberate and total, stressing that he would take a back seat while youths focus on protests and accountability efforts.
VDM did not specify how long the break would last.
