Traditional fashion and African heritage took centre stage at the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards Cultural Night held at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, as celebrities and entertainment figures appeared in elaborate outfits inspired by diverse ethnic traditions.
The event, held ahead of the main awards ceremony, featured actors, filmmakers, influencers and entertainers dressed in ensembles reflecting cultures from across Nigeria and other parts of Africa.
Rich fabrics, coral beads, embroidered agbadas, beaded gowns and regal headpieces dominated the evening’s fashion display.
Several attendees described the event as an opportunity to celebrate cultural identity and showcase the creativity of African designers through fashion.
Industry stakeholders noted that the AMVCA Cultural Night has grown into one of the most anticipated aspects of the awards season, blending entertainment with the promotion of indigenous fashion and heritage.
Fashion observers also highlighted the increasing visibility of local designers whose creations continue to gain recognition through celebrity appearances at major entertainment events.
Social media platforms were flooded with reactions to some of the standout looks of the night, as users debated interpretations of the cultural theme and applauded efforts to celebrate African identity through fashion.
