A Nigerian Army-led joint security team has rescued 16 persons abducted along major roads in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The victims, comprising six adult males, six adult females and four children, were rescued during a coordinated operation around Adumu Community in Dekina Local Government Area.
The operation involved troops of the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Navy, the Nigeria Police Force, local vigilantes and hunters.
The victims were reportedly abducted along the Ojuwo–Ajengo–Memarebo and Ojiwo–Itobe roads in Ofu Local Government Area.
However, a local hunter was killed during the operation, while a police officer sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment.
The rescued victims are undergoing medical assessment and documentation before being reunited with their families.
Security agencies have also intensified patrols and surveillance in the affected areas to prevent further attacks.
