A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State has announced the suspension of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, over alleged misconduct.
The factional chairman of the party in the state, Alhaji Raji Zumo, made the announcement on Monday while addressing journalists in Yola, accusing the duo of gross indiscipline and attempts to destabilise the party.
Zumo said the suspension also extends to members of the Sadiq Dasin-led executive council within the faction, adding that those affected would be subjected to further disciplinary processes.
“ADC is not a personal property, and we will not allow any individual or group, no matter how highly placed, to hijack the party or turn it into a personal estate,” he said.
He alleged that Atiku and Babachir were attempting to impose candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections, a move he said had brought the party into disrepute.
According to him, the faction would not tolerate any action capable of undermining the integrity and unity of the party.
The development highlights growing internal tensions within the ADC in Adamawa State as political realignments intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
