The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that it will not rely solely on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to safeguard its votes in the 2027 general election.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, made the statement while addressing journalists during a sensitisation walk in Ilorin aimed at mobilising support ahead of the 2027 polls.
Abdullahi said the party had learnt lessons from previous elections and was determined to protect every vote cast for its candidates across the country.
While acknowledging that some officials of INEC remain committed to conducting credible elections, he maintained that the electoral process should not depend on trust alone.
According to him, the ADC was disappointed with the outcome of the 2023 general election and would not repeat what he described as the mistake of relying entirely on the electoral umpire.
He expressed confidence that the party would perform strongly in the 2027 elections, insisting that it had put measures in place to protect its votes, although he declined to disclose the strategies it intends to adopt.
