Kwara APC candidates begin statewide ‘thank you’ tour after primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in Kwara State, led by the party’s governorship candidate and Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi Salihu, on Saturday commenced a statewide “thank you” tour with visits to Ekiti and Oke-Ero local government areas.

The delegation, accompanied by the APC State Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, party chieftains and support groups, first paid courtesy visits to the Olosi of Osi and Chairman of the Ekiti Council of Chiefs, Oba Saliu Abdulkareem Adasofegbe, and the Alofa of Ilofa and Chairman of the Oke-Ero Council of Chiefs, Oba Samuel Niyi Dada. Other traditional rulers from both local government areas were also in attendance.

Addressing APC supporters at the Ekiti Town Hall, Danladi thanked residents for their support during the party’s primaries and urged them to remain committed ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“We are starting this tour in Ekiti as a mark of honour for our party chairman. We are here to thank you for what you did during the party primaries and seek your continued support for our candidacies from our presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, down to the State House of Assembly.

“We appreciate you for coming out en masse to receive us. This visit is just by a short notice and the hall is filled to its capacity. We will not take your support for granted. We will consolidate the gains of the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq,” he said.

The APC governorship candidate pledged to sustain the policies and programmes of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, particularly in infrastructure development, human capital development, inclusive growth and support for traditional institutions.

He also urged party members to mobilise more support for the APC ahead of the elections.

Speaking during the tour, APC State Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, said Ekiti Local Government had benefited significantly from the AbdulRazaq administration, citing the establishment of the Kwara State University (KWASU) campus in Osi and the reconstruction of the Osi–Obbo-Aiyegunle Road.

“The only thing I want to tell our traditional rulers is that Ekiti Local Government has witnessed unprecedented growth and development under this administration. We now have a functioning KWASU campus, and the Osi–Obbo-Aiyegunle Road has been reconstructed.

“We have to thank Governor AbdulRazaq and reciprocate by voting for the APC,” he said.

The member representing Ekiti Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Abolarin Ganiyu Gabriel, also appreciated residents for their continued support for the APC and appealed to them to maintain the momentum in the 2027 elections.

In their separate remarks, the Olosi of Osi and the Alofa of Ilofa commended Governor AbdulRazaq for what they described as his contributions to the development of Kwara State and prayed for the success of the APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.

Kwara South Senatorial candidate, Prince Lekan Adewoye, also thanked residents of Ekiti and Oke-Ero for their support during the primaries and pledged to prioritise the interests of the district if elected.

Party stakeholders, including Elder Dele Aina and Engr. Ogunmola, reaffirmed the support of APC members in Ekiti Local Government for all the party’s candidates in the 2027 general elections.
